Legal Intern Permit



If you are a law school student, you may seek an intern permit to perform legal duties. You must be supervised by a licensed, active Kansas attorney in good standing, who has never been disciplined.
 

Educational requirements​

Check with your law school for school specific prerequisites. At a minimum, you must:

  • be enrolled at a law school approved by the American Bar Association;

  • have passed or be currently enrolled in the professional responsibility course required by your law school; and

  • have successfully completed at least 59 hours of legal studies or at least 44 hours of legal studies if your supervising attorney regularly teaches in your law school's legal clinic.

You can apply for your intern permit after ensuring you have met all of the education requirements.

Application fee

Under Rule 715, the fee for a legal intern permit is $50.
