District Court Judge James PringleTOPEKA—Cowley County District Court Judge James T. Pringle will retire January 9, after 18 years on the bench.

"It is an honor and a privilege to have served the public as a district court judge," Pringle said. "I especially want to thank the court clerks, court service officers, law enforcement, attorneys and fellow judges for their support throughout my term."

Pringle was appointed district judge in the 19th judicial district in 1998 by then-Governor Bill Graves. Before he became a judge, he served as Sumner County Attorney and as Cowley County Attorney, a position he held for 10 years.

Pringle graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 1980.

When reflecting on his career, Pringle said he hoped that those who appeared in court before him felt they were treated fairly and impartially, whether they won or lost their case.
