TOPEKA—The Kansas Supreme Court yesterday issued an administrative order and pandemic and district and appellate court operations.

District and Appellate Court Operations Order

Administrative Order 2022-PR-083: District and Appellate Court Operations as of December 31, 2022, updates COVID-19 operations policies. It makes clear chief judges continue to have the authority to manage court operations to protect health and safety while no longer requiring them to develop minimum standard health protocols. It also provides updated direction on media and public access through court-initiated livestreams.

COVID-19 Personnel Policies Updates

The judicial branch has implemented COVID-19 personnel policies since the pandemic response began in March 2020. At this stage in the pandemic, fewer COVID-19 specific personnel policies are needed. The updated policies explain COVID-19 specific personnel policies still in place. Under those policies, Kansas district and appellate court employees will follow the guidance for isolation and masking at the following link: Isolation and Precautions for People with COVID-19 | CDC.
